Drawing from the Byzantine enameling technique known as “plique-à-jour,” meaning “let in the daylight,” this extraordinary timepiece transforms its dial into a translucent canvas of color and light. The enamel is meticulously fired within open metal cells without a backing, creating a stained-glass effect that shimmers with natural brilliance. Every hue, gradient, and reflection is the result of countless hours of precision work performed by master artisans from renowned ateliers MD’Art and Bagues-Masriera, who executed the delicate metal framework and enamel application with museum-level craftsmanship.

Beneath its mesmerizing dial, the Antarctique Plique-à-Jour houses the SXH7 caliber, an evolution of Czapek’s celebrated SXH5 movement, featuring a skeletonized main plate that reveals the inner beauty of its mechanics. Every technical challenge, from reversing the escapement to reworking the crown mechanism and engraving the oscillating mass on both sides, was resolved with creative finesse. A sapphire crystal ring displays the seconds at 4:30, enhancing the illusion of depth and transparency. Complemented by Czapek’s signature brushed integrated steel bracelet with micro-adjustment links forming a polished “C,” this creation offers both comfort and artistry.
