Renaud Tixier | Rethink Centuries-Old Watchmaking

Renaud Tixier

In 2016, a fortuitous encounter sparked a remarkable partnership between Dominique Renaud and Julien Tixier, blending their talents seamlessly. Together, they merged the innovative spirit of an R&D laboratory with the meticulous precision of a production workshop.

This collaboration gave birth to the extraordinary secular calendar, Tempus Fugit, envisioned by Dominique and meticulously crafted by Julien in his Vallée de Joux workshop. Over two and a half years were dedicated to developing the world's smallest secular perpetual calendar. Featuring a unique complication that continually astonishes, this masterpiece—nominated for the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève in 2022—incorporates the Gregorian calendar for an astounding 9,999 years.

In 2023, Dominique and Julien embarked on another ambitious project for the biennial Only Watch charity. They tackled one of watchmaking's most complex challenges: simplifying the mechanisms of a grande complication. This endeavor led to an unprecedented exploration of the secular perpetual calendar, reimagining its underlying mechanics. The result is a watch with a heart that is both compact and modular, showcasing an extraordinary level of detail and finish.

As independent watchmakers,  Renaud Tixier continue to forge new paths in the world of horlogerie with their innovative creations.
