Thirteen years later Armin Strom has revisited this pioneering timepiece with a fresh and modern interpretation. A signature of the brand, the kinetic mechanical elements are cleanly showcased on the dial side through its sapphire glass in the 41 mm stainless steel case, this time completely redesigned and reengineered. The new manual-winding ARM21 calibre features two mainspring barrels, which work in series to provide consistent levels of energy to the gear train. Held by two finger-style bridges, the barrels are arranged symmetrically on the right portion of the completely open dial. The manual winding ritual takes on a hypnotic choreography, as the motion of
two ratchet wheels winding up the two barrels in opposite directions is entirely visible from the dial side.
Drawing inspiration from pocket watches, the power reserve is indicated by a cone system consisting of a mirror-polished cone which is driven by a conical gear opposing it. The beat rate has also been increased on this latest version of the One Week, from 2.5 Hz to 3.5 Hz. This allows for a more stable chronometric performance. Any Armin Strom aficionado will take note of the placement of the hour and minute hands, typically offset by the manufacture are instead shown centered. This exemplary timepiece is limited to only 25 pieces.
