Champagne Diamonds

When selecting a champagne, chocolate, or cognac diamond, consider the same basic 4 C’s of white diamonds. Champagne, Cognac and chocolate diamonds come in all shapes.

The particular combination of color, clarity, cut and carat determines the value of a diamond. There are three other elements to consider as well when looking for your champagne colored diamond: hue, saturation and tone. Hue is the dominant color of the diamond. Tone is the amount of lightness and darkness in the diamond. Saturation is the intensity of the color in the diamond. The darker the intensity the rarer the diamond. The darker and rarer the diamond, the higher the cost, but ultimately the appeal of color is up to your taste and style.

Yellow Diamonds

Warm and luminous like sunlight, the yellow in a fancy yellow diamond symbolizes wisdom, joy and happiness. Color theorists believe yellow enhances mental awareness and improves decision making skills.

The diamond gets its' yellow from the presence of the element Nitrogen(N) which changes the conductivity of the diamond. Only one diamond out of every 1,000 natural diamonds can be considered a fancy yellow or canary diamond. The natural white diamond scale starts at D colorless range and ends with Z, thus begins the yellow diamond scale. The least expensive of the shades is the Fancy Light Yellow and the more intense the color the more expensive and rarer the diamond becomes.

Fancy Light Yellow - The lightest yellow of the group
Fancy Yellow - Medium to strong color depth
Fancy Intense Yellow - Strong to Very strong color depth
Fancy Vivid Yellow - The strongest and deepest color possible.

Whether it's an engagement, anniversary or "just because" ring, yellow diamonds will truly give that rare quality.
