The Value of Relationships

We all know the world is a challenging place right now. But there are some positives that can be taken. The recent downturn has given all of us a moment to reflect on what is truly important: relationships. Whether with your loved ones, friends, business partners or business relationships this is an opportunity to show each other how much we care. This is also true for the watch and jewelry industry. For the last few years it has been a feeding frenzy and often our biggest concern was whether we could secure enough product. Today is different. We are finding that business is actually a pleasure. Our vendors value the level of expertise and professionalism that we bring to the table. They recognize that we are still doing decent business as we have always done, earning the sale one customer at a time. Nothing has really changed with our approach. I just believe that it has always been the right approach: we value the relationship, it is far more important than short-term business. The superlative experience that we have always offered our clients is one that is greatly valued today. Our customers repeatedly tell us that they are more selective with whom they spend their money. Average is no longer good enough and personal relationships are everything. We have kept an extremely consistent product line-up the last few years. Have we got it right? I think so. More importantly we have aligned ourselves with companies that we hope share our values. Maybe this year will see some companies show their true colors, for good or bad. Either way, it is a fantastic year to learn about those you do business with and return to values that endure.
