Samantha Louise Jewelry: Delicately Feminine
Samantha Louise Hurst was born to a family of entrepreneurs in Indianapolis, Indiana. At a young age, she spent Christmas working as a gift wrapper at Turandot. It was a local store full of silly books, cards, glasses, trinkets, and jewelry. Samantha loved the intricate jewelry, and the opportunity to learn about the various designers whose art work found its way to the store. Lisa, the owner, endearingly called her Samantha Louise. The store closed in 2007. On some level, Samantha’s jewelry will always be inspired by the enchanted jewel box of her childhood.
Samantha graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts, with a focus in photography. She chose to continue her education at the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, CA. While there, Samantha studied CAD, bench work, and stone grading. After the completion of her studies at GIA, Samantha took an apprenticeship in Chapel Hill, NC. She worked and studied under Travis Kukovich, a world-class designer and goldsmith. Samantha later married, and moved to Denver to open her own studio. Samantha Louise Jewelry is the receipent of 5280 Magazine's 2010 Top of the Town Reader's Choice Jewelry Designer.
