BlogsJaquet Droz's Amazing Time Writing MachineFri, 05/08/2009 - 11:47 — Jeremy OsterIt took the Jaquet Droz Team over eight years to create this masterpiece containing more than 1,200 components, including 84 ball bearings, 50 cams and 9 belts to create La Machine a Ecrire le Temps-"The Time Writing Machine." The Mechanism is activated by a simple touch and contains a stylus to mark the present time in hours and minutes. It features a system that converts analogue time (as indicated by the hands of a watch) into mechanical digital time written on the pad of paper. The Value of RelationshipsSat, 05/02/2009 - 15:28 — Jeremy OsterWe all know the world is a challenging place right now. But there are some positives that can be taken. The recent downturn has given all of us a moment to reflect on what is truly important: relationships. Whether with your loved ones, friends, business partners or business relationships this is an opportunity to show each other how much we care. This is also true for the watch and jewelry industry. For the last few years it has been a feeding frenzy and often our biggest concern was whether we could secure enough product. Today is different. Live from BaselWorld, Day4: Maitres du TempsTue, 03/31/2009 - 11:05 — Jeremy OsterEvery once in a while something very special evolves. In this case it is the beautiful collaboration of 3 of the watch industry's legends: Roger Dubuis, Daniel Roth and Peter Speake-Marin. Each brings a unique expertise and together they bring experience, know-how and the respect of their peers. Chapter 1 launched successfully last year. Now we see Chapter 2: a simplified, less complicated version; one that will appeal to those who appreciate complicated timepieces yet demand clarity and aesthetic perfection. Live from BaselWorld, Day3: HublotSun, 03/29/2009 - 23:57 — Jeremy OsterJust 2 weeks ago Melissa and I were in Miami for Hublot's pre-Basel event. Since then the hard working watch company has made changes and refined much of the product first shown in Miami. Quite amazing. When I ran into Jean-Claude Biver he was very matter of fact about the improvements. This is a company on top of its game. Probably the most exciting line-up of new products in Basel. They do not rest and are not content to simply lead the market. They define a company ethos that does not look over its shoulder. Rather, it only looks forward. Fantastic. Live from BaselWorld, Day3: B.R.MSun, 03/29/2009 - 09:22 — Jeremy OsterBernard Richards Manufacturing has quietly been making some of the most exciting watches on the market. I say quietly, that is unless you are into motor racing or bike racing or exotic motorcycles like Ecosse in which case you would be very familiar. Located in France, BRM is the first true French Manufacturer for many years. His new Tourbillon is now available in a 48mm case which is remarkably comfortable to wear. He also introduced a couple of new models which really add to the appeal of the line and are quite affordable.
