February 2009When to Service Your WatchWed, 02/18/2009 - 17:26 — Jeremy OsterA modern mechanical timepiece is an amazing micro-mechanic marvel that typically beats at a rate of more than 20,000 pulses in a single hour. Multiply that by 24 hours in a day, 7 days a week, day in and day out for 3 years and your watch may well have ticked a staggering 571,334,400 times barely missing a beat! A Return to the Classics for APSat, 02/07/2009 - 18:01 — Jeremy OsterThis year’s Geneva shows had a few surprises. Most notably, some of the most talked about watches included the new and very classic Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars chronographs. Although the size is a modern 41mm, Audemars Piguet has relaunched a beautiful and classic timepiece with clear inspiration coming from dials produced in the 1920’s. The execution is flawless. The aesthetics and proportions are beyond reproach. Do We Even Need a Watch?Sat, 02/07/2009 - 17:45 — Jeremy OsterEveryone has a cell phone. Why, then, are watches so popular and only gaining in popularity and status?? The reason is the exact fact that we do not need them! Today, a watch does so much more than tell time. It tells a story - about you, about history and engineering. It can be a symbol of achievement, a special gift or simply a private and personal indulgence that will give its owner years of pleasure. |
